Rest In Paradise Sean Peeeeeeeeeeee!! (Throwback Thursday)
Sean Price, the beloved and respected Brooklyn emcee passed away in his sleep on Saturday, August 8th at the age of 43, to the surprise of anyone who received the news. Price, then commonly known as Ruck, along with partner in rhyme, Rock, debuted their classic 1996 album, Nocturnal, collectively known as Heltah Skeltah. Price made his first appearance on wax on Duck Down lablemates Smif-N-Wessun's album, Dah Shinin in 1995. Heltah Skeltah would go on to release their second album, Magnum Force, in 1998 before becoming inactive for a few years after label, Duck Down Records, temporarily folded before becoming active again in the mid 2000's, which lead to the release of Monkey Barz, the first of three solo albums released by Sean Price. Monkey Barz was of a return to form for Ruck and established him firmly as a leader in the underground rap scene. Price would go on to release 2007's Jesus Price Superstar and 2012's Mic Tyson, while also reuniting with Rock for Heltah Skeltah's 2008 comeback album, D.I.R.T., and he also teamed with Black Milk and Guilty Simpson as Random Axe, releasing their self titled album in 2011. Sean Price worked with countless artist and was loved and respected by many, he will definitely be missed. Here's to the Brownsville legend, Sean Price, rest easy Sean P.
