NFL Week 9 Picks (Thursday Night Game)

 

Due to an unspecified individual (he knows who he is!) using my picks to gain an advantage on me in a football pool that we are in, I will no longer post my complete picks for the week on Thursday. I'll simply pick the Thursday night game and post the remainder of my picks at some    point on Sunday before the first game kicks off. Now back to the business at hand.

Last week I went, 12-1, which brought my season record to 75-45, a full 30 games over .500. I came within one game of perfection and thanks to the Atlanta Falcons I came up just short. Nonetheless the goal remains the same and my quest for perfection begins once again.

Week 8 NFL Picks

Week 7 saw me finish at 9-6, bringing my season total to 63-44, 19 games over .500. I racked up several close losses last week as the Lions, Ravens, Broncos, Dolphins, Patriots, and Bears (all six of my L's by the way) lost by a total of 18 points combined in some heavily competitive games. I must say, I was happy to see Andrew Luck shine in Peyton's homecoming even though Jim Irsay had everybody outside of Indianapolis rooting against the Colts due to his comments made during the week leading up to the game. Week 8.....perfection.....here I come!

Before label politics and bad business practices (allegedly) drove a wedge between Cash Money Records, the Big Tymers (Birdman and Mannie Fresh), were two of the most entertaining and ungifted rappers ever. NFL Picks Week 7

Week 6 saw me finish 11-4, making two consecutive weeks over .500 after hitting an early season rough patch. For the season, my record now stands at 54-38. Poor game management by the Saints cost me what looked like a sure victory after a Tom Brady interception, the Colts let me down on Monday night (possibly looking forward to Peyton's return), and the Texans...I have no words for you right now. Now to Week 7's quest for perfection (picking this Dallas/Philly game is a sure headache)....

BET Hip Hop Awards 2013 Winners List

While watching the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards you probably noticed that not many awards were actually handed out. Well just in case you were wondering, here is the complete list of winners from the award ceremony last night. Kendrick Lamar was last nights biggest winner as he took home five awards total including "Album Of The Year" and "MVP Of The Year" and Drake wasn't far behind nabbing four awards himself. I personally think Joey Bada$$ was robbed in the "Rookie Of The Year" category but that's just my opinion. The list doesn't also include MC Lyte being honored with the "I Am Hip Hop Award". During her acceptance speech Lyte dropped a gem on the Hip Hop community, listeners and artist alike by stating, “Men, we are depending on you. We need you to protect us when no one else will. So stop cursing us out all the time. Find some love for us somewhere. And ladies, I say if you want to be treated like a queen, act like one.” That statement definitely needed to be made and who else better to say it!

Game Signs To Cash Money

NFL Picks Week 6

 

Week 5 saw me regain some respectability, finishing over .500 for the first time in a two weeks. After that rough 2 week stretch, I went 8-6 in week 5, bringing my season record to
 43-34. Drew Brees broke his career long Soldier Field curse, but I can live with that lost. What I can't live with is the alleged Super Bowl contender, Atlanta Flacons, losing to a New York Jet team that on paper isn't very talented, but seem to be putting it all on the line head coach Rex Ryan. Uninspired performances by the Panthers and Giants (again), ruined what potentially was a good week heading into the evening games. Without further ado here is week 6's attempt at perfection!

G-Dep "Special Delivery" (Throwback Thursday)

G-Dep was never the most gifted emcee but with the help of Bad Boy Sean "Diddy" Combs he crafted possibly one of the most beloved party records every, "Special Delivery" which was featured on his debut album, Child of the Ghetto, in 2001. As the big as the original version of the track was, Dep managed to out do himself with the remix (a' la Craig Macks "Flavor In Your Ear) that featured Diddy, Ghostface Killah, Keith Murray and the aforementioned Craig Mack. Somewhere in America Diddy and the little kid from this video are still Harlem Shaking (the real Harlem Shake that is)! Hold your head G!

35-28, that's my record for the year after my 6-9 showing last week. I would like to personally thank Matt Schaub for blowing their game against Seattle, shaking my head. Also not to be forgotten I want to thank Tampa's Mr. Glennon, the Bengals for their disappearing act, and the Super Bowl MVP, Joey Flacco. With that out the way, here is my pursuit of the perfection that keeps eluding me.

Keith Murray "The Most Beautifullest Thing In The World" (Throwback Thursday)

Def Squad member, Keith Murray, definitely brought something to the game when he released his debut album The Most Beautifullest Thing In The World in 1994 with his vocabulary and witty wordplay. The album featured his lead single of the same name, which to this day remains biggest record to date. The momentum of his career was severely derailed by legal troubles and issues with his label, Def Jam (he joined Def Jam after originally being signed to Jive). Needless to say he still manage to put together a solid catalogue over the years, which includes five solo albums, a greatest hits collection, and a group album with Def Squad (Murray, Redman, Eric Sermon).
